In our learn-to-surf package we will help you to catch your first waves, understand the ocean, the surfing equipment and the techniques that will make you progress quickly. The varying landscape provides fantastic views, and the day-to-day activities of Balinese culture will leave you enchanted. While a full-day trip is included in your package every week, you can also book any trip anytime if you have only limited time available. All extra services can be pre-booked or booked on-site upon availability. Coastal TripThis is our standard trip that you will do if you stay only 1 week or 10 days. FAQ
Where is the surf school?
Our Surf School is located at the beginning of Legian Beach, in front of the Padma Beach Resort. You will see the Soul Surfer School right on the beach, which is our partner.
On which days and times are surf lessons hold?
Usually we try to fit in the lessons so you have easy time for recovery. Tide, wave and wind conditions will dictate when learning conditions are optimal and safe.
Is surfing dangerous?
Especially in Indonesia currents can be really strong and waves become really big. Thats why the surf school is located in a bay, relatively protected from these hazards. We will always check if surfing conditions are safe for you, and we teach in waist-high water only. Moreover, we only use soft-foam boards, which provide maximum protection against potential injuries.
Do I need to be a good swimmer?
It certainly helps to be a good swimmer, but it is not necessary. We select small, rolling waves on soft sand bottom to make it safe & easier to learn. The minimum requirement however is your ability to swim, it doesnt matter how weak you are at it.
What are the age requirements?
There are no requirements, but to guarantee safety we usually require people under 18 to be accompanied by an adult.
Where should I practice surfing?
The safest place with the smallest waves on the island is Kuta beach. As a beginner we do not recommend surfing anywhere else.
Are surfboards included in Surf Tours?
No, but we can arrange board rental or custumized shapes boards for you. Simply contuct us.
What should I bring to Bali?
Bali is a paradise for shoppers and bargain hunters, so you are likely to end up buying a few more things than you expected! A few shirts and shorts and swimming suits will do, and a jumper for the months from June-August as it can get fresh in the evenings, and up in the mountains! If you have any old clothing or toys that you dont need anymore, we kindly ask you to bring them to us, so we can donate them to the local charity organization. It is also wise to bring a basic medical kit, so that you can treat eventual diahorrea, headache, or small injuries.
When is the best time to come to Bali?
We are open from March until November, which usually provides great great wave and weather conditions. Dry season is from April to October, with usually sunny and warm weahter, while November until March is considered wet season, where hot, and humid weather persists. Air Temperature ranges from 30 degrees in dry season to 35 degrees in wet season; water temperatures range from 23 degrees in dry season to 28 degrees in the wet season. We recommend especially the months from March until May, as they are less busy and have good temperatures.
When and how can I get a VISA?
Most Europeans can purchase a Visa on Arrival, which is valid for 30 days, for 25 US Dollars. It is wise to pay in dollar, as the exchange rate used is unfavourable for other currencies. On your departure, the Indonesian government will charges you 150.000 Rp. Tax, which is around 12 Euros.
What is Balinese culture like?
Balinese are one of the most peaceful and friendly people on earth. Their culture is strongly rooted in Hinduism beliefs, and the cultures richness manifests itself on a daily basis on the streets and in the thousands of temples on the island.
What are the living costs?
Even though prices for accommodation and food in Bali are constantly increasingly, the living costs are still low compared to developed countries. You can eat delicious food from under 1 Euro in the streets and 1-5 Euros in restaurants.
Do I need a permit to drive in Bali?
We recommend that you have an international driver licence in order to drive on the streets of Bali. If you dont feel confident on a bike, dont drive: the traffic in Indonesia is intense and can be dangerous if you are not used to it.
I am already in Bali, can I nevertheless book a lesson or a trip?
Of course! Simply write, SMS or call us at or come and see us at the Soul Surfer School on Kuta beach, in front of the Padma Resort.

How long do day trips take?
We will pick you up around 9 a.m. and trips last between 9 and 12 hours.
Is there food included in the daytrips?
Usually there is no food included, to give you the option to eat where you like.
Are my belongings safe on the beach?
Personally, we have never had a problem with theft on Kuta beach. However, you can leave everything in our beachside stand, where our staff will take care of your belongings. Simply use common sense, and dont bring to many valuables to the beach.
Do I need travel insurance?
We highly recommend that you book travel insurance with your travel agent or with our travel partner SportlerTours. Bali has some quality hospitals but they can be expensive if you have no insurance.
